THE BEST NATURAL POOLS IN FUERTEVENTURA
NATURAL POOLS «AGUAS VERDES»
The Aguas Verdes pools belong to the first municipality founded in the Canary Islands, Betancuria, included in the network of the Most Beautiful Villages in Spain for preserving the charm of its limestone walls and ancient balconies.
What many travelers don’t know is that Aguas Verdes is the jewel in the crown of this municipality. These natural pools are hidden away and to access them, follow the FV-30 to Llanos de la Concepción and continue to the Aguas Verdes residential area. Keep in mind that to access the pools, you must be comfortable climbing, as you will have to climb some rocks.
This is a remote location, so it’s ideal to bring everything you need to spend the whole day with others or alone. These natural pools are characterized by their calm waters and a great diversity of aquatic fauna and flora for sea lovers.
NATURAL POOLS AJUY
Among the must-see stops for Fuerteventura’s hidden charms are the Ajuy natural pools, also known as the «Charcones de Ajuy.» This is one of the best-kept secrets of the Majoreros and offers a perfect opportunity, especially at low tide, as the water remains within the rock formations, creating natural saltwater reservoirs.
To reach these natural pools, we must travel about a kilometer and a half from the village of Ajuy, in the municipality of Pájara. Comfortable shoes are essential, as the access is rocky and parallel to a ravine that will take us to the foot of a cliff. At that moment, two large natural pools of varying depths will enter our field of vision, where we can dive and enjoy snorkeling.
This pool is located far from the town, so it’s important to bring everything we need for a day at the beach. In the village of Ajuy, there are shops and cafes where you can find everything you need before making the trek to the Charcones
NATURAL POOLS CALETA DE FUSTE
Just outside Caleta de Fuste Castle, at low tide and calm, you can find this natural pool with clear waters.
We recommend wearing comfortable and suitable footwear, as the rocks are slippery when entering at low tide. This is a somewhat isolated spot, so we recommend bringing food and drinks.
To reach this pool, leave your vehicle in the parking lot on Avenida Marítima near Playa del Castillo, and from the top of the rocks, you’ll see the beautiful pool.
